The elders are working with the Adams family right now. They are working on getting more folks to teach. Flatmate Elder Howatt has completed his mission and is now home. This week Elder Hall notes a couple of anniversaries in his family.
Subject: Do We Not All Depend Upon the Same Being, Even God
How was your week? Elder Conrad and mine was good. We
are working with the Adams: Karen, Justin, and Alan. Hopefully we can
help them progress and get more investigators at the same time.
Elder Howatt left this morning for Maine, it was sad to see him go.
When I came out he had barely been out a year. It goes quick.
This week was also cool because it was the anniversary for our family
being sealed, and a year ago today my Aunt Courtney was baptized,
which is awesome.
I was reading in The Book of Mormon and other things this week and I
absolutely the counsels which are given on every page. Something I
read this morning really stuck out to me.
19 For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the
same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both
food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches
which we have of every kind?
20 And behold, even at this time, ye have been calling on his name,
and begging for a remission of your sins. And has he suffered that ye
have begged in vain? Nay; he has poured out his Spirit upon you, and
has caused that your hearts should be filled with joy, and has caused
that your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance,
so exceedingly great was your joy.
21 And now, if God, who has created you, on whom you are dependent for
your lives and for all that ye have and are, doth grant unto you
whatsoever ye ask that is right, in faith, believing that ye shall
receive, O then, how ye ought to impart of the substance that ye have
one to another.
I love that so much, it’s a great reminder to me.
And from earlier in the week:
Doctrine and Covenants 58
47 Let them preach by the way, and bear testimony of the truth in all
places, and call upon the rich, the high and the low, and the poor to
41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed
and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For
behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual;
and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into
heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of
never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are
true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
26 And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto
Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation,
and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your
whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and
praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be
2 Nephi 32
9 But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint;
that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first
place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he
will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be
for the welfare of thy soul.
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with
all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this
is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Love you all, have a great week!
